Questions and Answers
When you register with us, we like to make a full assessment of your current dental needs and develop a plan of action for you. This means we may not need your previous dental records. If we require further information about your past dental history, we will ask for your permission to obtain your previous dental records.
If you are over 18 and would like to involve family members in discussions regarding your dental care, we will need your written permission for this. A consent form can be provided on request.
We understand that unforeseen circumstances mean you may need to cancel your appointment. Please let us know as soon as possible, if you need to cancel, ideally with at least 24 hours’ notice. Please note that a fee may be charged if an appointment is broken or cancelled without 24 hours’ notice.
Contact our surgery immediately if you feel you have a dental emergency and we will do our best to schedule you in for urgent treatment. If your emergency is out of normal working hours, please see our Emergencies page for details.
*Please note, there will be a charge for call out and treatment out of normal working hours.
Don’t let dental anxiety put you off visiting the dentist. Let us know when you make your appointment if you have any worries and we will do our best to help you cope with the treatment. We also offer sedation as an option if you feel this would help you and it is medically appropriate. We use a highly experienced specialist anaesthetist to put you at ease and provide your sedation. Sedation will often help even the most anxious patients undertake complex treatment.
A full assessment will be made to see if implants are suitable for you. If they are not, we will help you understand the available alternatives.
Under routine care, our treatments will not affect your ability to drive. However, if you require sedation you may feel unsteady for some time following treatment and you will need someone to collect you and take you home.
We understand that injections are often the biggest concern for many patients. Where local anaesthesia is required, a needle is the only option, but our gentle and carefully sequenced contemporary injection technique ensures that the procedure is as comfortable as possible for you.
