Dental Implant Treatments
We have a wealth of experience in dental implants within the practice. There are a plethora of implant manufacturers out there and we have been able to critically evaluate and select dental implant systems with proven high quality design, engineering and global compatibility.
Dental implants are generally seen as an excellent option for restoring areas where teeth have been lost due to decay or trauma. They have a number of benefits, including the following:
- They can provide outstanding aesthetics and function.
- They are self-supporting which means that teeth on either side of the gap do not have additional demands placed on them as is the case with bridges.
- They can be used to support individual implant retained crowns or for larger gaps, more than one implant can be used to support implant retained bridges.
- Most patients enjoy the convenience of a fixed option in terms of stability and care but implants can also be used to support removable prostheses which clip in and out but are held more securely than a conventional denture.
Dental implants may not be appropriate in a small number of patients. If this is relevant to you, we will talk you through suitable alternatives.

Adjunctive Treatments
Bone Grafting
When a tooth is lost, it is not unusual for the body to reabsorb some of the bone that provided support in the area. This “missing” bone often needs to be replaced with natural or synthetic bone grafts to ensure that a dental implant placed in the area has a good foundation.
PRGF (Plasma rich in growth factors)
This technique helps with healing and comfort when a tooth is removed or an implant is placed. It has been widely used in many areas of medicine and surgery for a number of years and involves collection of a blood sample which can then be spun down and activated to yield liquid and gel forms. These are then placed back in the surgical area where they integrate as part of the healing process. There is extensive research endorsing this technique and our day to day experience aligns with this in terms of patients reporting increased comfort after procedures and good healing outcomes.
